Umbria
Rocca Ducale
Barely 250 acres of Sagrantino vineyards exist in the Umbria region. A deep, dark and tannic grape, Sagrantino is exceptionally rich and is considerably more tannic and robust than Sangiovese. However, the tannins are sweet rather than sharp, which makes Sagrantino very drinkable when it’s young while also offering incredible aging potential. In the vineyards of Montefalco, Sagrantino grows into a burly, brambly red with aromas ranging from blackberry jam to pine tar – the overall effect being a contrast of savory and sweet flavors wrapped in a powerful package.
Tenuta Le Velette
The estate of Le Velette lies in the center of the production zone of Orvieto Classico on a plateau that faces the steep cliff of the town of Orvieto.  Their ancient cellars which were hand carved into the tufaceous rock during the Etruscan period, testify to the antique enological tradition of this region.  The estate was the property of the Count Negroni until the 1800s.  It was purchased in the late 19th century by the Felici family, from which the current owners are descended.
