Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Banear
Banear is a relatively young winery that was founded in 1978 and located in Treppo Grande, Friuli, in northeastern Italy. The winery represents three of the best geographic zones for viticulture in the Friuli region: the Collio, Colli Orientali del Friuli and the Friuli Grave. From these DOC regions come the incredibly refreshing Tocai Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Pinot Bianco. Known for the most impressive roster of white grapes to be found in any Italian wine region, most are somewhat surprised to learn that more than 40% of Friuli’s wine production is red. Merlot is dominant, but excellent Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Refosco also make their mark. Banear also makes wonderful Proseccos from vineyards in the Veneto.
